Vitale Brimani had mountain climbing in mind when he created Vibram's first rubber shoe soles almost 80 years ago. Sport climbing is always evolving, seeing constant development, and Vibram has been there ever step of the way, shifting the frontiers of grip and performance.
Besides rubber soles, Vibram has presented new technical solutions for the most comfortable shoes assuring comfort, grip and precision.
The effectiveness of Vibram soles has been proven by the numerous titles won in competitions and by the accomplishments of the world's best climbers. Recently, the first female 9a/9a+ was obtained in June 2005 by Josune Bereziartu (the Bimbaluna way, Saint Loup cliff, Tenaya light shoes).
Always searching for the best compromise between grip (especially on micro clip fittings) and sensitivity, rigidity and abrasion resistance, Vibram launched XSGrip, a new generation of rubber climbing soles, in the spring of 2006 on shoes from all the finest brands of climbing shoes.
